About this role

The Investment Operations Payments & Claims Team is a dedicated group of professionals who are responsible for the validation, confirmation and workflow oversight of lifecycle payment events associated to: Bilateral OTC derivative contracts, CFD resets and Manufactured Income Reclaims for Securities Lending funds. The team provides information services and solutions in support of all BlackRock and BlackRock Solutions businesses. The roles and responsibilities will include actively managing risk and exposure for BlackRock by ensuring BlackRock synthetic payment obligations are being met daily. The role will result in understanding the mechanics of the CFD reset reconciliation process, exception management, troubleshooting issues, driving innovative enhancements, data analysis, maintaining documentation, assisting management in leading processes, and recommending improvements to ensure efficient and accurate processes. Income and Payments plays a prominent role in the lifecycle of a trade, using BlackRock’s proprietary platform Aladdin to ensure operational consistency and client fiduciary responsibilities.

Role ResponsibilityEnsure CFD reset reconciliations are successfully completed and troubleshoot any discrepanciesDriving prime broker discipline through weekly calls; to bring the overall exposure downDemonstrate full understanding of the trade life cycleBe able to evaluate and research reset discrepancies across Aladdin tools and source broker dataBecome a risk manager by owning internal/external partner relationships and driving risk mitigationManage and ensure delivery of central initiativesEffectively lead conversations around exception volume, exposure, and ageEstablish and execute remediation plans around root cause issues to ultimately reduce total partner exception volumeRegularly articulate personal impactComplete data analysis to establish transparency, decision drivers and efficiencyDevelop expertise around team control mechanisms and reportingActively participate in all team meetings including review of key risk and process indicatorsUnderstand and adhere to all regulatory requirements impacting the reconciliation processAbility to evaluate systems, procedures and workflows to make meaningful recommendations for improvementLead various efficiency and capacity-building initiatives, including automation/ standardization effortsCommunicating with partners to resolve open reset discrepancies.Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal & external partners including; leading & coordinating problem resolutionEmbracing the BlackRock Principles and role modeling these behaviors to other team membersExperienceCandidate should possess 2-5 years of financial services experience and have a good understanding of Financial Markets, preferably within the Investment Management, Income and payments or Global Custody environment.Previous experience in Derivatives, CFDs, Cash Reconciliation, Corporate Actions is preferredProficiency in Microsoft office products (with an emphasis on Excel) or other programming languages and an aptitude for learning new applicationsStrong, effective analytical and problem solving skillsOrganized approach to ensure follow up on outstanding issues and identify appropriate action to be takenAttention to detail to ensure a high degree of accuracy for all tasksAbility to multi-task and balance requests without losing sight of overall objectivesExceptional decision making skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior managementWork in a team environment and build lasting relationships with colleagues and external contacts such as custodians, counterparties and other third-party providersThrive in a fast paced, rapid changing, deadline driven environmentExcellent interpersonal skills to effectively articulate solutions to internal and external partnersStrong initiative to follow up on outstanding issues – identify what needs to be done and take action and see through to resolution
