Ampoule Design & Process Engineer (Gelest)
**Company:** Gelest Inc. **Job Description:** Mitsubishi Chemical is seeking an Ampoule Design & Process Engineer to lead the design, development, and scale-up of ampoule and cylinder systems. This hands-on role combines customer collaboration, process development, and inventory management to ensure smooth operations from design to shipment. **Key Responsibilities** **Ampoule Design & Development** + Design and develop ampoule packaging solutions that meet product, regulatory, and customer requirements. + Define specifications for ampoule dimensions, materials, tolerances, and sealing requirements. + Support prototype development, testing, and design validation activities. + Evaluate design changes and assess impact on manufacturability, quality, and cost. + Collaborate with customers and vendors to create and refine ampoule designs. + Develop, implement, and train operators on cleaning, filling, inspection, and repair procedures. + Manage ampoule and valve inventory, maintaining ERP and external databases accurately. + Support High Volume Manufacturing scale-up, gathering operator feedback for continuous improvement. + Troubleshoot customer inquiries and optimize processes for efficiency and safety. **Process Engineering & Optimization** + Develop, optimize, and validate ampoule manufacturing processes, including forming, filling, sealing, and inspection. + Lead process characterization, capability studies, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, throughput, and reliability. + Troubleshoot process deviations, defects, and failures using structured problem-solving methodologies. + Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs), control plans, and process documentation. **Manufacturing & Scale-Up Support** + Support technology transfer from development to manufacturing and scale-up of new ampoule designs. + Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure robust process performance and compliance. + Identify and implement automation or equipment improvements where applicable. + Support equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and process validation activities. **Cross-Functional Collaboration** + Work closely with R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, and external suppliers. + Provide technical input for supplier selection, material qualification, and vendor performance reviews. + Support customer technical discussions as needed. **Qualifications Required** + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Manufacturing, or related discipline). + 5+ years’ experience in chemical or manufacturing environments. + Strong knowledge of **material construction, chemical compatibility, and cylinder/valve design** . + Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across global teams. + Detail-oriented with ERP/database experience and a passion for **process improvement** . + Strong knowledge of Microelectronics (AI), GLP-1 products, and Hydrogen Fuel Cells **The salary range for this position is $105,000-$145,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered.
