About the Department
UVA's ambulatory clinics provide comprehensive care to adult and pediatric patients within internal medicine, family medicine, and pediatric practices, addressing common chronic disease states, acute care needs, and preventive services through longitudinal, team-based care models.
What We Do
Our Medication Access Technicians work alongside clinical pharmacists and insurance specialists to:
Coordinate prior authorizations and secure timely medication approvalsInvestigate and enroll patients in pharmaceutical assistance programsNavigate insurance contracts and carrier updates to ensure complianceFacilitate free home delivery and access to life-changing therapiesWhy Join Us

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.Experience: 6 months minimum relevant experienceLicensure/Certifications: Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required. CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required. For team members hired prior to February 1, 2020, certification as CPhT through NHA or PTCB is required by January 31, 2022.Physical Demands: Job requires standing for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs.
Work Arrangement
This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 1 day on campus per week, with additional on-site presence as needed, in accordance with UVA’s remote work guidelines.
Onboarding Requirements:
Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.
The starting base rate for this role is $20.68 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.Benefits
