The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities. **This posting will be used to fill multiple vacancies.** To manage and conduct complex financial and white collar criminal investigations, gambling license background investigations and to provide investigative assistance to other local, state, and federal law enforcement and regulatory agencies; thereby enhancing the safety and well-being of Minnesotans by maintaining the integrity of the state gambling and liquor industries through the efficient detection, identification and referral for regulatory sanctions or prosecution of those individuals who have committed illegal or prohibited acts. Residency Requirement - Must live within 50 miles of St. Paul office location The Department of Public Safety is unable to provide sponsorship for work visas. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the start of employment. DPS does not participate in E-Verify. **Minimum Qualifications** 1.) An associate’s degree from an accredited institution with four (4) years full-time experience as a licensed peace officer conducting felony level criminal investigations with a law enforcement agency -OR- A four-year degree from an accredited institution, plus one (1) or more years of full-time experience as a licensed peace officer conducting felony level criminal investigations with a law enforcement agency -OR- A four-year degree from an accredited institution, plus four (4) or more years as a licensed police officer, plus one (1) or more specialized skillset listed below: Specialized Skillset: • Fluency in a foreign language • Degree or certification in accounting or other closely related field • Degree or certification in a technology related specialty or computer science • Demonstrated advanced computer skill • Juris Doctorate Degree AND 2. Applicants must be currently licensed as a Peace Officer in the State of Minnesota or be eligible to be licensed as a Peace Officer 3. Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation, physical and psychological examination prior to hire 4. Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds **Preferred Qualifications** 1. Four Year degree with a major in accounting, finance, business, or similar 2. Experience as an investigator assigned primarily to financial crimes 3. Training and experience as a public speaker 4. Training and experience as a background investigator 5. Advanced degree 6. Ability to establish effective, collaborative working relationships and creditability among diverse and varied populations 7. Experience working on a specialized taskforce. 8. Six months of experience investigating gambling, alcohol crimes and/or experience conducting tribal compliance checks **Physical Requirements** Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50 pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes.
