Overview
AAA Life is seeking an AI Modeling Lead to serve as the senior technical authority over machine learning and LLM models deployed across the enterprise. This role is highly strategic and technical, with direct ownership over model validation, governance, risk assessment, and production approval in a regulated insurance environment.
This is not a people‑management role. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on technical expert who has repeatedly owned high‑risk model decisions in production and understands how to balance model performance, fairness, and regulatory constraints.
Day to Day
• Lead validation and approval of ML and LLM models deployed in production
• Define and enforce modeling standards and governance frameworks across business units
• Evaluate and validate third‑party AI and LLM solutions
• Own risk assessment for production models, including performance, fairness, and compliance
• Partner with business leaders to translate complex problems into safe, scalable AI solutions
• Provide technical guidance and checkpoints to ML engineers and data scientists
Maintain visibility into all production models and determine when models should be updated or removed
Compensation: $160k to $180k Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Skills and Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
• 7+ years of hands‑on experience developing and deploying ML models in production
• 2+ years in a technical leadership or decision‑making capacity
• Strong expertise in:
○ Predictive modeling
○ NLP and Deep Learning
○ Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Strong Python proficiency for model validation and behavior analysis
• Demonstrated experience owning model approval decisions, checkpoints, and deprecation
• Deep understanding of:
○ Model risk and drift
○ Bias and fairness
○ Regulatory and business risk in production systems
Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders Preferred Qualifications
• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
• Experience in Finance or Insurance
• Experience with:
○ Responsible / Ethical AI
Model governance, validation frameworks, and regulatory considerations
