**Job Description**

Temporary part-time or full-time Research Scientists I, II, III or Senior positions may become available throughout the year with AgNext at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. These positions will focus on advancing the sustainability, productivity, and resilience of beef and/or dairy systems through independent and collaborative research. A PhD or DVM in a closely related field at the time of hire is required for all levels.

**Essential Job Duties:**
Essential job duties vary, but may include:
+ Conduct independent and collaborative research advancing the sustainability, productivity, and resilience of beef and/or dairy cattle systems.
+ Design, implement, and manage applied research projects, including experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis across livestock systems.
+ Translate scientific findings into systems-level insights and practical applications that support producer adoption and measurable impact.
+ Provide in-field project management, organizational oversight, and supervision or mentoring of graduate students and research personnel.
+ Engage with producers, industry partners, and stakeholders through outreach, communication, and knowledge-transfer activities.
+ Contributeexpertiseacross relevant focus areas (e.g., nutrition, grazing management, animal health, GHG measurement, genetics, epidemiology, economics,or data science) to support interdisciplinary research goals.
Specific duties will be defined at the time of hire by the supervising faculty member.
**Conditions of Employment:**
Pre-employment criminal background check (required for new hires).
**Supervision:**
This position reports to a faculty member within the Department of Animal Sciences. Day-to-day supervision and expectations are defined by the supervising faculty member.
**Minimum** **Qualifications:**
PhD, Doctorate or equivalent degree in Veterinary Sciences or closely related field at the time of hire is required for all levels.
+ **Level I** is for individualsgenerally withinthree years of receiving their Ph.D.,Doctorateor equivalent degree and with significant professional accomplishments.
+ **Level II** is analogous to the Assistant Professor title for regular faculty. Itgenerally includespeople with three to seven years of experience beyond the Ph.D., Doctorate or equivalentdegreeandvery significantprofessional accomplishments.
+ **Level III** is analogous to the Associate Professor title for regular faculty. It generally includes individuals with more than seven years of experience beyond the Ph.D., Doctorate or equivalentdegreeand with very significant professional accomplishments.
+ **The Senior level** is analogous to the full Professor title for regular faculty.It generally includes individuals well beyond the Ph.D., Doctorate or equivalent degree level that have demonstrated outstanding, sustained, and extraordinary professional accomplishments, as well as professional leadership.
Specific duties will be defined at the time of hire by the supervising faculty member.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Preferred qualifications vary by supervising faculty member and may include:
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
+ Publication record in peer reviewed journals.
+ Experience in leading projects through to publication.
+ Experience with project and team management.
+ Experience with dairy or beef systems.

**Salary Range**
$62,000 - $210,000
