 About the role of Agile Product Owner IV  

Premera is looking for an Agile Product Owner who will have a critical role in advancing our business process automation strategy, with a focus on the transformation of highly regulated workflows. The Agile Product Owner IV will help us deliver streamlined, reliable experiences that meaningfully support our customers and providers during key moments of need. As we expand our automation capabilities, this work will increasingly integrate AI to drive smarter decisions and operational efficiency. 

We are looking for a product leader who is energized by digging into complex problems and shaping modern solutions that improve our customers' lives and make healthcare work better now and in the future.

The Agile Product Owner will act as the voice of the customer within the Agile Delivery team and lead collaboration with business stakeholders to elicit business requirements and document in the form of features and user stories. You will create, maintain, and outline work in the backlog, provide analysis on complex or abstract problems to determine which work items will produce the most business value, and prioritize those deliverables. You will develop and maintain strong relationships with business partners to ensure stakeholder buy-in and drive innovation. As a leader within Premera IT, you will also help mentor and support the development of Product Owners and foster a positive team culture. 

This is a hybrid role, located on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, Washington.  

What you’ll do:  

Act as the voice of the customer to the Agile team. Understand the business and product strategies and represent them to the Agile team.  

Act as a liaison with business stakeholders by planning, conducting, and leading analysis efforts for new product implementations.   

Demonstrate business and product expertise with both deep and broad domain knowledge. 

Build, own, maintain, collaborate and sequence the team backlog in alignment with product roadmap with engineers and other stakeholders.  

Collaborate with the Agile team on a regular cadence to refine the backlog. 

Actively collaborate with the Agile team through solution design and development. Coordinate with other Product Owners to ensure alignment on solution, priorities, and dependencies. 

Manage user acceptance testing. Approve and accept business user stories, enablers, and tech debt product backlog items (PBIs).  

Facilitate product and release demos, taking accountability for feedback and outcomes. 

Collaborate with business partners, IT partners, and Agile teams to develop clear and concise measurable outcomes and business value.  

Clearly communicate release content and value to business partners and IT leadership.  

Prioritize issues and collaborate to make decisions required to resolve them weighing the pros/cons, risks, and dependencies. 

Leverage data to guide product strategy. 

 

What you’ll bring:  

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or equivalent. (Required) 

(8) years of business systems analysis experience. (Required) 

Experience in a software development environment with agile development practices, including Scrum and SAFe. Knowledge of agile delivery models. (Preferred) 

Experience using SQL for data analysis. (Preferred) 

Knowledge of healthcare or health insurance industry. (Preferred) 

Knowledge of product development tools including Azure DevOps Services, Visual Studio, Confluence, and Product Plan. (Preferred) 

Experience using AI to build out new capabilities. (Preferred) 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

Experience defining software requirements for highly complex products/solutions; expert knowledge of analytical tools, relational databases, and software applications; proven ability to analyze highly complex data and business processes. 

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, to a wide range of audiences, including business and IT leadership and executives.  

Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills, demonstrated ability to proactively prevent problems from occurring and work issues to resolution. 

Strong facilitation skills: ability to facilitate large, diverse group discussions on extremely complex topics to achieve defined outcomes; leverage a variety of facilitation techniques depending on the specific needs of the audience and topic.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.

The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.

National Plus Salary Range:

$123,200.00 - $209,400.00

*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
