Advanced Shipfitter (Multi-Pass Tack And Burn)
Job Title: Shipfitter / Fitter

Hourly Rate: $45Per Diem: Up to $140Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Shipfitter with a minimum of four years of commercial or naval experience as a first-class Shipfitter. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in welding, burning, heating, and interpreting complex structural drawings.

Key ResponsibilitiesPerform multi-pass tack welding using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process.Operate oxygen/propane burning torches for cutting and heating.Read and interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches.Understand weld symbols, material types, datum, and reference lines.Use a ruler to comprehend fractional dimensions and lay off piece parts for fabrication.Assemble structural components to meet high-quality standards.Work in physically demanding environments such as shipbuilding or steel fabrication.Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations relevant to the shipbuilding industry.Utilize vibratory tools including grinders and needle guns.Essential Skills & QualificationsProficiency in single pass tack weldingExperience with oxygen/propane burning and heating torchesAbility to interpret technical drawings and blueprintsSkilled in fractional measurement and layout for fabricationStrong background in structural assemblyComfortable working in physically demanding conditionsKnowledge of OSHA safety standardsFamiliarity with grinders and needle guns

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
