Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Neurology, Multiple Sclerosis - Full Time
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) d elivers medical care to a wide variety of patients. The APRN also e xamines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. May prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests. Advises patients about continuing care.
JOB FUNCTIONS
+ Performs and documents complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories .
+ Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for patients.
+ Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
+ Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
+ Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability .
+ Assists with the provision of care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
+ Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
+ Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
+ Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
+ Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
+ Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Clinical Responsibilities 80%:
+ 1. During patient visits at independent and shared clinics at Boca Raton and West Palm Beach , p erform histories and physical exams. Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Generate clinical revenue through billing for clinical encounters.
+ 2. Provide patient education. Participate in patient/family interventions.
+ 3. Counsel patients and families regarding quality issues affecting patients with multiple sclerosis and related disorders.
+ 4. Respond to medical emergencies as necessary.
+ 5. May p erform medical procedures with appropriate physician supervision, such as lumbar puncture
+ 6. Conduct multidisciplinary discharge planning, be responsible for the plan of care of each patient, make face-to-face evaluations for equipment, and coordinate medical authorizations.
+ 7. Complete disability forms, insurance medical authorizations, assist with peer-to-peer evaluations, and help complete worker compensation forms.
+ 8. Other duties as assigned by the APP Supervisor , Division Chief.
Administrative Responsibilities 20%:
+
+ 1. Oversee the daily operations , including billing practices, of the Boca MS infusion center .
+ 2. Supervise infusion center registered nurses.
+ 3. Ensures all aspects of nurse performance are in compliance with internal policies and procedures and with all federal, state, and mandated rules.
+ 4. Ensures high-quality customer service and a safe environment when rendering care.
+ 5. Assures compliance with all clinical safety standards, promotes professional practice models
+ 6. Periodically monitors patient and medication logs.
+ 7. Provides information to APP Supervisor, Division Chief, and Division Administrator on business growth needs and opportunities.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Master’s d egree in Nursing
Certification and Licensing:
Valid State of Florida APRN License
Certification as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) organizations such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB).
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.Prior clinical experience, preferably in a neurology or pediatric setting. Experience in managing patients.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
+ Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
+ Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
+ Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
+ Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
+ Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
