ADVANCED PACKAGING ENGINEER
SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN – WORLD HEADQUARTERS – IN-PERSON

 

As a member of the packaging team, the Advanced Packaging Engineer will be responsible for supporting and developing packaging solutions that support new and ongoing automotive programs. This position focuses on pre-source quoting, identifying and developing returnable packaging suppliers, and managing our Lear Packaging Approval System (LPAS).  

 

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

Advance Packaging Engineer is responsible to support early-stage program development through pre-source program quoting, supplier engagement, and management of LPAS (Lear Packaging Approval System).  This includes all activities related to the planning, budgeting, design, procurement, and management of both returnable and expendable packaging for a variety of automotive seating components.   Additional responsibilities include supporting new product launch teams and meetings, driving continuous improvement, analyzing engineering drawings and specifications of packaging, and collaborating with cross-functional organization to manage new packaging launches.  Ensure packaging solutions meet customer, quality, safety, and sustainability requirements. Support cost modeling, tooling investment analysis, and ROI evaluations for packaging programs. Maintain accurate packaging documentation, standards, and change control throughout the program lifecycle.

Your Qualifications:

Bachelor in Packaging, or Related Study Ability to work cross-functionally with Plant Staff, Sales, Purchasing and Program Management Coordinate and manage packaging activities with multiple regions when necessary 2-3 years of experience with Logistics in Relation to Packaging Strong social skills, ability to communicate to all levels of Management Experience with Just in Time (JIT) Manufacturing Microsoft Office (Excel) Ability to travel up to 20% of the time

 

Bonus If You Have:

3 Years working experience in Automotive Packaging   Continuous Improvement Background
