Site Overview

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is GE Aerospace’s multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Pushing the boundaries of innovation every day, engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.

Role Overview:

Lead TRL programs, work with MRL/RRL teams to design, plan, and execute industrialization of materials and coatings systems (e.g. Electroforming, REACh) for both new make and repair through drive project planning, troubleshooting, data analysis, documentation and technical reviews. Serve as the subject matter expert in materials engineering (coatings and/or metallic alloys), leading/guiding multiple development programs and material processing initiativesDevelop and validate new technologies in collaboration with scientists, engineers, and technicians; apply advanced analytics (spectroscopy, microscopy, etc…) to understand degradation and repair mechanismsSupport and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as manufacturing, sourcing, services, global engineering, ATO, and systems engineeringProvide technical responses and presentations to internal and external customerCommunicate progress, results, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels; deliver technical presentations to internal/external customersGenerate IP through invention disclosures and patent applications; stay current on industry trendsManage, mentor, and develop junior researchers and technicians; promote best practices, safety, and quality in labsExercise sound judgment to solve complex, cross-functional problems; assess information quality, ask pertinent questions, and propose innovative, data-driven solutions to improve products, processes, and services

Required Qualifications:

Master’s/Ph.D Degree accredited college or university in Materials, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or related disciplineMinimum of 5 years of experience in Materials, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or related disciplineExperience conducting research and development in aircraft engine technologies in material domainRequires specialized knowledge within material coatings, metallic alloys, and material processingExperience with advanced analytical techniques, including spectroscopy, microscopy etc..Ability to drive projects to completionStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsAbility to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
