(http://www.washington.edu/omad/) **Multicultural Outreach & Recruitment (MOR)**  is part of the College Access unit within OMA&D, which partners with K–12 districts, two-year colleges, and community organizations to expand opportunities for American Indian/Alaska Native students, first-generation college students, foster youth, and those from low-income or under-resourced communities to thrive in higher education. MOR works to identify and recruit the most promising undergraduates, helping to build a diverse and vibrant student body through inclusive admissions policies and practices. The team operates in a fast-paced environment and is committed to access and excellence.  **Position Complexities:**   Reporting to the Director of MOR, the Admissions Counselor supports outreach, recruitment and admissions counseling for prospective 6 - 12th graders and community college students, with a focus on American Indian/Alaska Native students and those from underrepresented and underserved backgrounds.  This position has the responsibility for ensuring accurate, consistent and friendly customer service is provided to prospective first-year students, families, guidance counselors and community partners.  Additional responsibilities of this position include providing recruitment and outreach support to middle school, high school and transfer applicants, managing a recruitment portfolio, high school visits, college fairs, admissions presentations and using CRM technology. This position supports, implements and sometimes leads events on and off campus.  This position could cover both an in-state and out-of-state recruitment territory depending on the evolving needs of the office.   **Position Dimensions and Impact** ** to** ** the University:**   The Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity, Multicultural Outreach and Recruitment is seeking a talented individual who wishes to join our staff as an Admissions Counselor, to assist in the implementation of first-year and transfer outreach and recruitment for a university that receives more than 70,000 applications annually.  The ideal candidate:  + is a trusted teammate  + is an excellent communicator  + is oriented toward customer service  + looks for ways to improve the process  + appreciates data and knows how to use it   **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Counseling prospective first-year and transfer applicants about the boundless opportunities available at the UW, the admissions process and academic preparation and planning to enroll at the University. Such counseling takes place through travel to recruitment territory, in-person appointments, information sessions, fairs, phone calls and emails, webinars, texts and social apps like Instagram. + Representing the UW at high schools, community colleges, conferences, community events, college fairs and on campus information sessions and events. + Assisting in outreach and recruitment programs and events, in-person and virtually. + Implementing and leading student programming for 6-12th graders that is culturally appropriate and continues to develop a connection to the UW Husky Experience. + Reviewing undergraduate applications through a holistic process. + Developing productivity and status reports + Other duties as assigned. **APPLICATION REQUIREMENT** This recruitment requires a cover letter. It must be specific to this role. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** + Bachelor's Degree. + 2-3 years of college admissions and/or outreach experience, or equivalent.  **Additional Requirements:** + Must be able to demonstrate ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team. Must be willing to be a collaborative team member who has enthusiasm to work for the UW, is flexible and exercises sound judgment, professionalism and maturity.  + Strong work ethic with the ability to work in a fast-paced office.   + Strong interpersonal and writing skills are essential, as are strong public speaking skills and the ability to present the University in a positive way to diverse populations.  **DESIRED QUALIFICATION** + Experience working with diverse populations as well as understanding cultural differences and their effect on college planning.  + Experience in both first-year and transfer admissions recruitment and outreach in the U.S. and an understanding of the distinctive qualities of the UW.  + Former student ambassador, tour guide, on-campus Resident Adviser, Peer Adviser, Orientation Leader or similar student involvement.
