No If Temporary, enter End Date: Position Summary The University Student Teacher Supervisor for the Science Departments represents SUNY Cortland while overseeing student teachers, facilitates a strong university-school partnership, and mentors and evaluates student teachers.

Experience Cortland dives deep into the region’s offerings Major Responsibilities Fulfillment of all responsibilities/duties of a supervisor as outlined in the Student Teaching Handbook, department orientation, training and university communications. Contact and meet with student teachers and host teachers either before or at the beginning of the student teaching placement. Make regular visits, including written observation reports, and confer with each student teacher after observations. Confer with each student teacher after each observation and provide both oral and written feedback during the post-observation conference. Maintain regular communication with each host teacher regarding the progress of student teachers. Complete evaluation work in Watermark and submit quarterly grades for student teachers. Functional and Supervisory Relationships Reports to the Department Chair and the Coordinator for Adolescence Education Science. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree. Availability to fulfill job obligations during standard school hours (applicants with concurrent full-time commitments, including P-12 school personnel, are not eligible for the position of a SUNY Cortland student teaching supervisor). Experience in secondary school settings. Familiarity with New York State Teacher Certification requirements and learning standards. Masters degree, previous mentoring, or supervisory experience. Current or past teacher certification in Science. Preferred Qualifications Masters degree. Previous mentoring or supervisory experience. Current or past teacher certification in Science.
