Actuarial Assistant Manager, US IFRS Reporting

Responsibilities:
•This position requires a solid knowledge of the business.
•Performs detailed analysis of results, proposes solution alternatives, and communicates these to the management.
• Provide support to actuary in completion of data analysis and validation, and financial calculations and reporting
• Perform complex calculations using spreadsheet programs and databases, run reports from PC applications, and research and understand differences in month-to-month experience
• Communicate results to and answer questions from actuary staff directly, including communication with senior management
• Resolve work assignments or analytical problems that do not require knowledge of actuarial mathematics
• Identify trends in data and experience and verify and explain trends to manager
• Assist in training and development of junior staff including serving as first reviewer of work (quality control
• Maintain and improve documentation of tasks for general reference and in conjunction with SOX
• Initiate process improvements and streamline tasks
• Continue to refine analytical skills and develop business knowledge
• Begin to understand legal and statutory requirements of the business
• Other duties as assigned, including serving as reference for Operations
• Serve as a reference for the Operations team as needed
Requirements: •
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 5 years in Actuarial Analyst position or similar experience which may be demonstrated through progress with actuarial exams
• Preferably an associate with professional actuarial organization
• Strong understanding of financial/ economic principles and mathematical skills
• Superior aptitude for MS Office applications, including MS Access. Visual Basic skills preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving ability
• Fundamental knowledge of business unit and its profitability drivers
• Ability to provide concise, accurate explanations in addition to answers
• Project management skills; ability to lead projects and make decisions
• Outstanding client interaction skills
• Outstanding communication skills
• Some prioritizing of competing client deliverables within a given client team
• Determination (using department guidelines) of what work is not included in Actuarial Team scope of responsibilities, as related to manual benefit calculations
• Shared development of staff within the area of (through coaching and mentoring)
