Check out this video for more information on our great company! #PGH-BMC Location Description Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa is nestled high atop the majestic San Bernardino Mountains at an elevation of 5,174’. This Resort is surrounded by an ocean of Ponderosa Pines and gives guests exclusive access to Lake Arrowhead, a reservoir with a surface area of 780 acres. Lake Arrowhead is the perfect location for outdoor adventure enthusiasts and offers a variety of summertime and wintertime activities including hiking, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, water skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, ziplining, and more. The resort includes a Bar & Restaurant, Spa & Wellness Center, Outdoor Pool & Lake Beach as well as over 23,000 sq. ft of meeting and events space. Overview Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa is hiring for the following positions: Kayak Guide, Boat Captain, and Pool Attendant for the Summer Season, May - September. BASIC FUNCTION: The Summery Activity Guide’s responsibility is to provide outstanding customer service while operating boat tours, providing kayak exhibitions, or as a pool attendants to our guests. These positions are also responsible for enforcing all precautions, procedures, and safety guidelines according to internal policies and as defined by Arrowhead Lake Association (ALA) Boating and Swimming Rules. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (All Positions): • Act as a guide to provide valuable historical information about the lake. • Enforce safety protocols and procedures set out by leadership and ALA. • Report any safety issues, damage, or incidents / injuries to the manager on duty immediately. • Be familiar with all property facilities and outlets to be able to direct guests to their destination. • Secure lost and found items and immediately deliver to supervisor or manager on duty. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Kayak Guide): • Maintains and inventories all equipment used during kayak tours, such as life vests, paddles, seat back rests. • Maintains the cleanliness, appearance and safety of the kayaks, life vests, kayak racks, beach storage shed, and surrounding areas. • Ensures kayaks and surrounding beach areas are well-kept, clean, safe, and free of debris or safety hazards, this includes removing trash in the beach trash cans, from the fire pit, trash on the shoreline, raking the beach, sweeping the stairs to the beach, removing cobwebs from stairwells, gates, etc. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Boat Captain): • Provides fun and memorable boat excursion events while adhering to the property tour schedules. • Fills in as a Kayak Guide, if needed. • Maintains and inventories all equipment used during boat excursions, such as life vests, ropes, buoys, anchors, etc. • Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of the pontoon boat and surrounding areas. This includes the boat's exterior, boat Bimini, seat upholstery and overall interior condition, including the boat dock, gangway, and walkways. • Ensures all outside areas are well-kept, clean, safe, and free of debris or safety hazards, this includes removing trash in the beach trash cans, from the fire pit, trash on the shoreline, raking the beach, sweeping the stairs to the beach, removing cobwebs from stairwells, gates, etc. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Pool Attendant): • Check in arriving guests to the pool area, helping them to identify as resort guests and to find available areas for them to set up for the day. • Ensure guests have correct, corresponding pool wristbands upon entering and using pool and beach areas. • Engage with guests and work as a team to enhance the guests’ experience. • Routinely inspects and maintains the pool and beach areas including but not limited to all guest bathrooms, stairwells and walkways. • Performs janitorial duties as needed to maintain the overall cleanliness of the area including but not limited to trash removal. • Set up and break down the pool area. • Remove soiled linen from all service areas and take to appropriate bins for laundry service. • Inventory and maintain all towels and guest purchase items. Stocking the items as necessary. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: • Respond to any task as assigned by a supervisor, manager, director, or member of management. As of January 1, 2021, the state of California requires that anyone operating a motorized vessel that is 45 years old or younger must obtain a California Boater Card. Anyone at any age who is teaching someone to operate a motorized vessel must also be in possession of a current valid California Boaters Card. ALA Boat Operators Licenses will not be issued to anyone 45 years old and younger who is not in possession of a valid California Boaters Card. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent. One year of customer service experience in a guest-facing position, preferred. First Aid and CPR certification are preferred. Or must be able to obtain certification. Must be an expert swimmer. Must be comfortable in or near water and be knowledgeable in most sporting activities (boating swimming, kayaking, etc.). Must possess a valid Arrowhead Lake Association (ALA) boat operator license and any other license(s) required by ALA or the State of California, such as a Human Powered Vessel License, as required for Boat Captain position. Pleasant, polite, outgoing, and engaging personality, ability to interact with guests in a professional way while providing a positive and memorable guest experience. Must be punctual, able to maintain a tight schedule and work in a fast-paced setting. Great problem-solving skills with the ability to think and react quickly to any situation that may occur outside of normal. Must be able to work independently or with others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. You must have reliable transportation to and from work. Compensation Range The compensation for this position is $16.50/Hr. - $17.00/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
