Accounts Payable Specialist
Job Description
As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the AP Inbox, filtering and routing invoices for approval, preparing payment batches, cutting checks, and publishing analytics. You will ensure statements are consolidated and complete, contact vendors for necessary documents, and download invoices from vendor websites. Additionally, you will monitor bills to prevent late payments.
Responsibilities
Manage the AP Inbox and organize communication efficiently.Filter and route invoices to appropriate departments for approval.Prepare payment batches once invoices are approved by corresponding accountants.Cut checks and process payment batches on a weekly basis.Publish analytics and provide check run summaries to management.Consolidate statements to ensure all invoices are accounted for.Contact vendors to request missing invoices, W-9, and COI forms.Download invoices from vendor websites to maintain updated records.Track bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly bills to avoid late payments.Essential Skills
1+ year of Accounts Payable experience OR a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Basic Microsoft Excel skills (testing required).Experience handling a high volume of invoices (200+ per week).Comfortable with manual processes.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with Workday or similar systems is a plus.Work Environment
This position requires working 5 days onsite in an open-plan office with pit-style cubicles. The role offers flex hours from 7 am to 9 am, provided a consistent schedule is maintained. The workday consists of 8 hours with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Employees enjoy free parking at a nearby garage and easy access to public transit, being only 3 blocks from the Bethesda Metro.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
