Job Description
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing non-purchase order invoices in the accounts payable system, ensuring accurate distribution to financial statements, and managing vendor relationships. This role requires proficiency in integrated accounting systems and the ability to verify vendor invoices against purchase orders.
ResponsibilitiesProcess non-purchase order invoices in the accounts payable system.Review and assign general ledger accounts and cost center numbers for proper financial statement distribution.Use integrated accounting systems to process invoices against system-generated purchase orders.Verify vendor invoices against system-generated purchase orders for correct quantity, unit pricing, extension, and goods receipt.Reconcile vendor accounts by verifying statements and related transactions.Manage internal and external vendor relationships and address inquiries to ensure timely invoice processing.Sort and process incoming mail, and scan invoices for distribution to the AP group email address.Forward e-invoices to the SAP vendor invoice maintenance system or appropriate contact for approval.Route miscellaneous invoices via Adobe for approval.Complete a high volume of work within established deadlines.Perform other duties as required.Essential SkillsProficient in processing invoices and accounts payable.Proficient in Excel.Knowledge of Accounting ERP systems (SAP or Oracle preferred).Minimum of 1 year of experience in invoicing.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school graduate.Minimum 1 year of specialized experience in accounts payable preferred.Familiarity with standard accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.Strong attention to detail.Good written, phone, and verbal communication skills.Work Environment
The position requires working in the office 50% of the time (2-3 days per week) in Sterling, VA. You will be part of a small, three-person team in a friendly and collaborative environment. The company manufactures equipment used in the currency counting industry, requiring a badge or escort throughout the secured facility due to credit card chip technology. The culture emphasizes teamwork, flexibility, and mutual support.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.03 - $28.84/hr.
