Amanda Warren with Robert Half is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor or Office Manager to oversee the financial, administrative, and human resource operations of our non-profit organization in Sacramento, California. This role is pivotal in ensuring fiscal accountability, maintaining compliance with audit standards, and delivering accurate reporting to the leadership team and board of directors. The ideal candidate will bring a detail-oriented approach and a strong background in office management, financial oversight, and personnel administration to support the organization’s advocacy mission.
Responsibilities:
• Manage day-to-day financial operations, including account reconciliation, expense tracking, and transfers.
• Ensure compliance with audit requirements by maintaining detailed financial records and internal controls.
• Administer payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to tax regulations and labor laws.
• Assist in preparing annual budgets and delivering regular fiscal reports to the executive team.
• Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding, maintaining up-to-date and secure personnel records.
• Coordinate benefits programs, including health insurance renewals, workers' compensation, and retirement plans.
• Support board activities by organizing meetings, preparing materials, and documenting minutes.
• Ensure smooth office operations by managing vendor contracts, service agreements, and supplies.
• Maintain efficient systems for storing and retrieving financial and organizational documents.
Requirements
• Minimum of five years of experience in office management or a senior administrative role, ideally in a non-profit setting.
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping practices, audit preparation, and payroll compliance.
• Familiarity with human resources management and California labor regulations.
• Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, with an ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting software such as QuickBooks.
• Expertise in general ledger management, journal entries, and financial statement audits.
• Solid understanding of account reconciliation and month-end close processes.
• Ability to manage financial and operational tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
