Job Title: Accounting Manager

Job Description

The Accounting Manager plays a critical leadership role within the Finance department, overseeing a team of Accountants and Sr. Accountants responsible for core financial operations across the organization. This position ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, supports complex healthcare revenue processes, and maintains compliance with regulatory and audit requirements. A strong understanding of healthcare net revenue, reimbursement methodologies, and nonprofit reporting (including Form 990) is essential.

Responsibilities

Mentor and develop a team of Accountants and Sr. Accountants, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to internal controls.Manage workload distribution, performance evaluations, and ongoing professional development.Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.Ensure compliance with GAAP, healthcare industry standards, and organizational policies.Lead the preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of net patient service revenue.Partner with Revenue Cycle, Managed Care, and operational leaders to validate contractual adjustments, reserves, and reimbursement assumptions.Monitor trends in payer mix, denials, and reimbursement to support forecasting and strategic decision-making.Support the development and refinement of net revenue models and methodologies.Coordinate annual external audits, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors.Ensure timely preparation of audit schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor inquiries.Oversee preparation and review of annual Form 990 and related nonprofit filings.Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.Support system enhancements, automation initiatives, and implementation of new accounting tools.Collaborate cross-functionally to improve data accuracy, reporting capabilities, and financial transparency.Partner with Finance leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Essential Skills

Experience in net revenue accounting.Proficiency in month-end closing processes.Strong skills in journal entries and reconciliations.General ledger and reporting expertise.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experienced in leading and managing a team.5+ years of operational/managerial accounting experience.Preferred experience in the healthcare industry.Preferred experience with net revenue.

Work Environment

The role oversees a team of seven members, including three Sr. Accountants and four Accountants, within a large accounting and finance team. The position is located on the fifth floor, known as the Finance floor, in the building right across the street from the Hospital. The work setup includes in-office presence only once a month, with the initial visit required to collect a laptop and login credentials. The work culture is supportive, with an emphasis on people leadership and net revenue management.

This is a Contract position based out of Robbinsdale, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $80.00/hr.
