Job Title: Accounting Manager

Job Description

The Accounting Manager oversees the accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP. This role leads a team of accounting staff, manages key financial processes, and supports organizational decision-making through high-quality financial analysis. The Accounting Manager plays a vital role in maintaining the financial health of the hospital and supporting its mission of delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

Manage and mentor a team of 3+ accounting professionals, ensuring effective workflow, development, and performance.Oversee daily accounting operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.Foster collaboration, accuracy, and accountability within the accounting team.Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Ensure the timely delivery of accurate financial reports to hospital leadership.Analyze financial results and prepare supporting schedules and variance explanations.Maintain strong internal controls and documentation standards.Oversee debits, credits, journal entry preparation, and ledger maintenance.Perform and review bank reconciliations across all hospital accounts.Support audit preparation, including providing schedules and addressing auditor inquiries.Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), ensuring all financial practices meet regulatory and organizational standards.Oversee the payroll accounting process, including reconciliation of payroll accounts and ensuring proper expense allocation.Partner with Human Resources to resolve payroll accounting issues and ensure accuracy.Assist in the development of budgets, forecasts, and operational financial tools.Provide financial insights to management to support strategic and operational decisions.Collaborate across departments to ensure financial accuracy and support service line planning.

Work Environment

The role operates within a corporate environment at a major hospital, with a team of over 20 accounting professionals. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with late hours as needed, especially around month-end close. The position offers opportunities for upward growth within the organization.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hudson, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.07 - $55.29/hr.
