Accounting Manager
Job Title: Accounting Manager (Architecture | Engineering | Construction)

Job Description

As an Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in analyzing firmwide financial performance, identifying trends, variances, and risks. You will develop dashboards and reports for leadership to assess operational health and make data-driven decisions. You will also partner with leadership to develop annual budgets, long-range financial plans, and firmwide financial strategies. Your role will involve presenting financial performance, forecasts, and KPIs to leadership in a clear and accessible manner. Additionally, you will monitor project budgets, work-in-progress, billing, and profitability throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborating with project managers to ensure proper cost tracking, change order management, forecasting, and performance measurement is also part of your responsibilities. You will recommend and implement process improvements to increase automation, accuracy, and financial clarity.

Responsibilities

Essential Skills

4+ years of accounting experience.Proficiency in accounting software such as Deltek and Quickbooks.Strong understanding of project accounting, revenue recognition, and budgeting.Excellent communication skills to explain financials to non-financial stakeholders.Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.Experience in architecture or engineering industries.Familiarity with KPI, budget planning, and budget preparation.Ability to grow into a Director of Finance type position.

Work Environment

The work hours are 9am-6pm with a 1-hour lunch break. There is an option for working from home on Mondays. You will work closely with three tenured partners and have the opportunity to be the first true accounting hire alongside a part-time bookkeeper.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
