Job Summary:\rFunctions under the direction of the Director, Accounting with minimal supervision. The Technical Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring month-end close and accounting deliverables are accurately, timely and efficiently executed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This position is also responsible for the management of Accounting staff and requires collaboration with departments supporting and utilizing financial information. Requires a bachelors degree in Finance/Accounting and at least 5 years of experience in the field with people management experience preferred.\rCore Responsibilities and Essential Functions:\r1.\tAssist with the management/direction of general accounting functions/processes\ra.\tResponsible for successfully closing Wellstar Health Systems financial statements monthly\rb.\tMaintain and approve various journal entries prepared by team members\rc.\tAssist with the application of GAAP to new transactions, where applicable, including researching guidance and proposing accounting positions\rd.\tEnsures that the monthly close calendar is adhered to and that all close and compliance procedures are met\re.\tPerform balance sheet and income statement analyses\rf.\tReview balance sheet account reconciliations and assist in ensuring completion\rg.\tAssist with preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial and compliance reporting\rh.\tSupports annual audits\r2.\tManage/supervise the general accounting staff\ra.\tResponsible for interviewing, hiring, and training new employees\rb.\tAssigns responsibilities to team members giving consideration to skill/experience levels\rc.\tSupervise staff in performance of their duties including annual performance evaluations\rd.\tMentor/coach and continue to train and develop in order to allow for better utilization and efficiency of team members and responsibilities\re.\tAssist with continuing education for staff through department meetings and special sessions\r1.\tSpecial projects, as assigned\ra.\tAssist with special projects as assigned\rb.\tAcquisitions, accounting, and reporting\rPerforms other duties as assigned\rComplies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.\rRequired Minimum Education:\rBachelor's Degree Accounting/Finance\rMaster's Degree Accounting/Finance, MBA\r\rRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):\rAll certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.\rAdditional License(s) and Certification(s):\rCertified Public Accountant Preferred\rRequired Minimum Experience:\rMinimum 5 years experience in finance, accounting Required\rPeople management experience Preferred\rRequired Minimum Skills:\rWorking and current knowledge of US GAAP rules and regulations\rStrong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to solve complex problems\rStrong written and verbal communication including interpersonal skills necessary to lead direct reports and interact effectively with business leaders across different functions throughout the organization\rAbility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, highly adaptable to change.\rAbility to manage and lead multiple projects, delegate work, prioritize work, meet deadlines and concentrate on detailed information.\rSelf-motivated and proactive, conscientious and detail-oriented.
