This is not a passive reporting position. This is an ownership role for the integrity, discipline, and scalability of our accounting function in a fast-paced, project-driven construction environment. You will operate at the intersection of accounting execution, technical judgment, and people leadership. Success requires intellectual sharpness, operational rigor, and the ability to bring order and insight to complexity. You will partner closely with Finance leadership, Operations, Project Management, and Estimating to ensure accurate financials, disciplined controls, and clear visibility into project performance, risk, and cash flow. Responsibilities What You Will Own Core Accounting & Close + Own the general ledger and month-end close process, delivering accurate, timely financial statements. + Lead balance sheet account reconciliations and ensure disciplined resolution of discrepancies. + Manage annual audits and serve as the primary accounting point of contact with external auditors. Technical Accounting & Controls + Lead technical accounting research and application of GAAP to complex transactions. + Design, implement, and continuously improve internal controls across core accounting processes. + Ensure consistent accounting policies and practices across business units. Project & Business Unit Financial Insight + Analyze project financial performance to identify accuracy issues, margin risk, upside opportunities, and cash flow implications. + Partner with Finance leadership to support business unit performance reviews and decision-making. + Act as a trusted thought partner to Operations and Project Management on financial outcomes—not just inputs. People Leadership + Coach, develop, and lead a team of accountants, setting high standards for accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement. + Build a culture of ownership, learning, and results orientation within the accounting team. Growth & Integration + Support the integration of newly acquired business units, including accounting processes, systems, and controls. + Contribute to ad hoc accounting initiatives, system improvements, and cross-functional projects as needed. Tax & Compliance + Support tax planning and compliance efforts in coordination with internal stakeholders and external advisors. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. + 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. + Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and developing accounting professionals. + Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret complex data. + Strong analytical judgment and problem-solving ability—comfortable investigating issues and driving them to resolution. Preferred Qualifications + CPA license. + Proven ownership of month-end close in a complex environment. + Experience with Viewpoint Vista (or similar construction ERP). + Experience integrating newly acquired business units. + Public accounting background with transition into industry. Employees will be expected to work in the Westminster, CO office (https://maps.app.goo.gl/cBfTcyP14SJaSVVV8) 3 days per week on Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The expected base pay range for this position in the Westminster area is $ $109,600 - $129,700 . Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential bonus or benefits.
