Job Title: Accounting Assistant
Job Description

This role involves coding invoices, processing payments, and maintaining accurate records for a book of clients using proprietary ERP software. You will be responsible for handling complex accounts payable processes, requiring strong analytical skills and attention to detail. The job requires extensive use of Excel for documenting, tracking, and organizing discrepancies, and involves collaboration with internal teams and external customers to ensure timely payment processing.

ResponsibilitiesCode invoices and process electronic or check payments.Maintain client accounts and payment status using ERP software.Utilize Excel for pivot tables, sorting, and tracking discrepancies.Work with statements containing hundreds of lines of entries to identify discrepancies.Collaborate with internal sales and accounting teams, as well as external customers, to resolve payment discrepancies.Handle insurance carrier payables and ensure records are accurate for timely processing.Communicate with sales floor and vendors to ensure payments are correctly processed.Identify due dates for invoices and arrange for appropriate payment methods, including electronic payment or overnight delivery.Record payments against payables in the system and seek necessary approvals.Work within a team of 8 people in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.Essential Skills3+ years of strong accounts payable experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.Experience with complex invoices/statements and multiple line items.Proficiency in processing and coding invoices and payments.Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and sorting.Excellent documentation and organization skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.Additional Skills & QualificationsAccounting/Finance degree preferred.Experience in a complex AP environment with extensive internal and external communication.Service-oriented individual with high personal standards and hands-on work style.Ability to adapt quickly and progress within the role.Work Environment

This position offers remote work opportunities with occasional in-office requirements based on location and workload. For the first 90 days, San Diego county-based contractors must come into the office three times a week, reducing to once a week thereafter. Non-local candidates will rotate into the office every other week after the initial training period. The ideal candidate is a hard-working individual with tough skin, comfortable with tight deadlines, and enjoys steady work in a stable environment. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $28.00/hr.
