Accounting Analyst

Responsibilities

Monitor daily electronic funds transfer (EFT) processes for credit and debit transactions for various merchants.Perform daily reconciliation and balancing of tenders including credit, debit, gift card, and eCTM, as well as chargebacks for both physical and eCommerce environments.Execute settlements for merchants and resolve any out-of-balance situations for systems and individual stores.Monitor reports for financial integrity in relation to the General Ledger (G/L).Create and execute month-end journal entries, invoices, and balance sheet account reconciliations.Reconcile and complete month-end reporting for gift cards and eCTM.Prepare and reconcile monthly insurance billing summaries and complete payments to insurance vendors.Review, investigate, and process chargebacks and document retrieval requests on credit card sales, adhering to service level timelines.Interact and negotiate with stores regarding chargebacks and educate store staff on card processing procedures to prevent chargebacks.Update, add, and delete merchant information in all systems to support dealer/franchisee changeovers and new store openings.Verify and reconcile accounts during dealer/franchisee changeovers.

Essential Skills

2+ years of work experience + education in an accounting environment.Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload effectively.Sound judgment and decision-making skills.Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Strong sense of urgency in situations requiring immediate attention.Excellent negotiation skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Knowledge of back office cash environments or familiarity with related companies is an asset.Bilingual in English and French, both written and verbal, is considered an asset.Experience with Peoplesoft Financial Services and Financial Shared Services.Ability to respond to inquiries from stores, corporate, and banks.Capability to complete processes as documented to maintain Enterprise Risk Management and Accounting controls.Experience working with Information Technology (IT), Business Analysts, and Store Systems to report and resolve issues.

Work Environment

The primary work location is the Oakville office, with a schedule of Monday to Thursday in-office and Friday working from home. The core working hours are from 10 AM to 3 PM, with flexible start and end times between 7 AM to 5 PM. The work week consists of 37.5 hours with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. The team comprises 7 other members, offering a collaborative work environment.
