Job Description
As a Senior Accountant, you will provide financial analytical assistance and oversight to accounting functions under the supervision of the accounting manager/controller. You will assist in preparing consolidation packages for financial reporting and support inventory cycle count and physical inventory count procedures. Additionally, you will administer equipment inventory, ensuring proper tagging, transferring, and disposal, and conduct annual equipment inventory reconciliations.
ResponsibilitiesEnsure reconciliation of master equipment lists at year-end, including depreciation reconciliation journal entries.Prepare financial information or disclosures for the annual audit.Reconcile sub-ledgers and general ledger account balances for inventory, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and more.Conduct monthly petty cash and bank reconciliations.Reconcile inter-company transactions on a monthly and quarterly basis.Perform monthly analysis of on-hand and slow-moving inventories.Conduct cost variance and freight charge analyses.Support compliance matters such as business license renewals, sales tax filings, annual report filings, and census reporting.Provide backup and support to accounting associate positions responsible for accounts receivable and accounts payable, including reviewing AP invoice entries, AP payments, AR cash receipts, and reconciling discrepancies.Assist the accounting manager in processing all aspects of monthly close of financial records, including balance sheet reconciliations.Monitor bank accounts to maintain appropriate cash balances and initiate book transfers as needed.Coordinate various audits, including quarterly financial audits/reviews, year-end financial audits, SOX audits, and internal audits.Prepare a variety of reports as requested on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including support in preparing consolidation packages.Essential SkillsProficiency in accounting principles and practices.Experience with general ledger reconciliation and month-end processes.Knowledge of fixed assets and balance sheet management.Strong financial reporting skills.Experience in cost accounting and audit coordination.Familiarity with SOX compliance and Sage 100 software.Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 5 years' related work experience, or equivalent experience.Proficiency in PC skills, particularly Excel.Experience with ERP systems.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Proven experience in meeting deadlines.Overtime availability during busy periods, especially month-end close/audits.Ability to work on weekends or holidays when necessary.Demonstrated customer service focus with a positive work style.Strong written, verbal, and listening skills.Ability to think independently and use professional judgment.Self-motivated and self-directed with analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.Bilingual in English and Japanese is a plus.Work Environment
This position is on-site, with overtime as needed during month-end and year-end periods.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
