We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and other government contract requirements while managing the firm’s accounting functions. The Accountant will oversee cost allocations, indirect rates, allowability of expenses, account reconciliations, and government audit support to ensure accuracy and compliance in all financial reporting related to federal contracts.
ResponsibilitiesInterpret and apply FAR, CAS, and agency-specific regulations to all accounting and financial activities.Prepare, monitor, and reconcile direct, indirect, allowable, and unallowable costs in compliance with government contracts.Develop, monitor, and update indirect rate structures (overhead, G&A, fringe) and prepare forward pricing rate proposals.Perform monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts, subledgers, and bank accounts, ensuring balances are accurate, properly supported, and compliant with GAAP and FAR.Support DCAA audits, including Incurred Cost Submissions and other government audit requirements.Ensure compliance with timekeeping, labor charging, and expense reporting policies.Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and FAR.Maintain internal controls and recommend process improvements to strengthen compliance and efficiency.
Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field5+ years of experience in government contract accountingStrong knowledge of FAR, CAS, DCAA regulations, and GAAPExperience with Deltek, QuickBooks, or other government contract accounting software (Deltek Vantagepoint strongly preferred)Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracyStrong communication skills to collaborate with technical staff and government auditorsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Additional Skills & QualificationsCPA or MBAIndustry experience at an A/E/C (Architecture/Engineering/Construction) or surveying/engineering services firmProficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint or another Deltek ERP
Work Environment
This position requires working fully onsite from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The company is a local, growing government contractor offering opportunities for career growth, with the potential to advance to the Accounting Manager role.

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
