Job Description
The accountant supports the development of the annual budget and assists with financial year-end procedures. This role involves establishing and managing financial records and systems for centralized fiscal operations, compiling financial summaries, and maintaining detailed accounting documentation. The accountant also reviews and validates financial data and account activity.
ResponsibilitiesGenerate detailed monthly financial summaries outlining spending and account balances.Collect, reconcile, categorize, and process financial transactions.Participate in reviewing accounts payable and receivable records.Perform monthly reconciliation of income and expenditures.Manage documentation and administrative tasks related to contracts and grants.Develop and maintain a tracking system to monitor the progress and deadlines of contracts and grant activities.Input employee work hours into the payroll system on a bi-weekly basis.Identify and report discrepancies for resolution.Ensure payroll data is handled with strict confidentiality and security.Act as the liaison with the Treasurer’s Office for monitoring and coding electronic fund transfers, leases, and evaluating petty cash and change fund requests to ensure compliance with municipal and state policies.Draft official correspondence and create custom forms and templates as needed.Perform additional duties as assigned, with specific tasks determined by departmental needs and supervisory direction.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, or 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience.Proficiency in accounting, general ledger, and reconciliation.Intermediate proficiency in Excel, including the ability to create pivot tables and use VLOOKUP for reconciliations and report manipulation.Experience with month-end and grants accounting.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with local government accounting and/or Tyler Munis ERP.Experience with grants accounting.Work Environment
The position is fully onsite, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The minimum expected duration is 3 months, with potential for extension depending on the internal search and the need for overlap between the temporary consulting role and new hires. The role offers an opportunity to support operations of a mental health/substance abuse clinic, providing valuable services to the local community.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $41.00/hr.
