3rd Shift Factory Automation Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Factory Automation Engineer to ensure the smooth operation of assembly lines during the 3rd shift on the shop floor. The role involves troubleshooting camera equipment and resolving any break-fix issues that may arise, ensuring minimal disruption in production.

Responsibilities

Collaborate daily with Operations to maintain product flow through the MES system on all assembly lines.Manage and oversee mistake-proofing devices, including PLCs, HMIs, machine vision systems, light curtains, pick-to-lights, and smart torque tools.Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues, including light-curtains, machine vision, pick-to-lights, VFDs, C#, PLCs, and HMI software.Work with Manufacturing Engineering to develop mistake-proofing plans, layouts, and budgetary costs for projects.Develop PLC logic, HMI programs, and manage multiple SQL databases.Perform any maintenance-related tasks as directed.Maintain accurate documentation for Mistake Proofing Spreadsheets, AutoCAD drawings, instruction kits, etc.

Essential Skills

Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLC, Rockwell Automation suite for PLC programming and troubleshooting.Experience with vision systems such as Banner, Cognex, Keyence.Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems ranging from 480VAC to 24VDC.Proficient in SQL and database management.Strong computer skills, including troubleshooting and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent communication, logic, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Reliable self-starter with the ability to prioritize shop floor issues and manage project workload efficiently.Experience with Presence Plus camera software, Cognex, Banner, Keyence, and Fanuc Robotics.Knowledge of electrical safety standards including NFPA70 and Arc Flash Safety.Familiarity with daily assembly line operations and general safety related to maintenance functions.

Work Environment

The role supports factory automation for commercial mowing and golf-equipment operations. The site operates 10 assembly lines utilizing conveyors, AGVs, robotics, vision systems, and an MES platform. The work environment is dynamic, involving interaction with advanced automation technologies and requires working the night shift.

This is a Contract position based out of Fuquay Varina, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
