**Job Title:** Optics Fabrication Technician (Temp-to-Hire) - 2nd Shift
**Location:** Boulder, CO
**Rate:** $21-$24/hour
**Position Overview:**
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated **Optics Fabrication Technician** to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating optical components to precise customer specifications. The position involves various optical fabrication processes, such as beveling, milling, blocking, grinding, polishing, curve generation, and inspection/measurement. This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor or Production Manager.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ **Optical Fabrication:** Perform various optical fabrication processes to ensure components meet customer specifications from initial print to finished product.
+ **Process Management:** Monitor and manage Baume and pH levels to ensure optimal fabrication conditions.
+ **Advanced Blocking Skills:** Execute precise alignment blocking with attention to detail.
+ **Polishing Expertise:** Polish single test plates and maintain wedge control to achieve high-quality finishes.
+ **Process Improvement:** Understand the integrated effects of various fabrication steps, identify improvements, and recommend enhancements to boost efficiency and quality.
+ **Training and Leadership:** Mentor and train junior technicians, offering guidance and support. Potential to take on a leadership role for specific departmental projects.
+ **Additional Duties:** Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
**Qualifications:**
+ **Education:** High School Diploma or GED required.
+ **Experience:** While previous experience in optics is a plus, we are particularly interested in candidates with a strong work history, long tenure at previous positions, and a passion for working with fine details. This role is ideal for someone who is looking to commit to a career path in optics and enjoys working as part of a team.
+ **Teamwork Skills:** Strong ability to collaborate effectively within teams and across departments. Capable of guiding lower-level technicians and working closely with higher-level technicians and engineers.
