The Position

 2026 Summer Intern - Safety, Health and Environment (SHE)
 

Department Summary

This position is within the Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) team, receiving guidance from SHE Program Owners. The SHE team is responsible for overall SHE compliance for the Bay Area Roche sites (Santa Clara, Pleasanton and San Jose).  

This position is based in Santa Clara, CA / On-Site.

The Opportunity

This internship offers valuable experience and professional development in learning about SHE regulations and the implementation of them. You will work with a variety of people with different backgrounds in SHE and Facilities & Engineering.

Support projects to streamline processes and identify efficiency gains in support of the Sustainability program - some projects include building out a Tableau dashboard to visualize the sustainability metrics in real time, evaluating previous years data and comparing to current years performance to help make real time decisions.

Support clean up and mapping of work area risk assessments in the Enablon platform.

Build a process for keeping SHE compliance tasks and permits up to date.

Work and collaborate with the Bay Area SHE and Facilities and Engineering team.

Program Highlights

Intensive 12-weeks , full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)

A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. 

Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry. 

Who You Are (Requirements) 

Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree

Required Majors: Environmental, Health & Safety such as but not limited to - Public Health, Environmental Management, Occupational Health etc.

Required Skills: 

Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

Highly motivated, problem solver, independent thinker and can work in a fast paced environment.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. 

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of  California is $24- $33/hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
