We are seeking a driven and talented Electrical Engineering Summer Intern to join our team. This position focuses on AMD VHDL design, with opportunities to apply your knowledge of machine learning principles to cutting-edge projects. As part of our engineering team, you will work in a collaborative, innovative environment to support advanced design and development efforts in the fields of aerospace and defense.

What will you do:

Develop, simulate, and verify VHDL designs targeting AMD FPGA platforms.Collaborate on the development and optimization of FPGA-based systems for aerospace and defense applications.Integrate machine learning principles into hardware design workflows to enhance system performance.Assist in the implementation and validation of hardware/software co-design projects.Document design processes, results, and technical findings to share with internal teams.Support troubleshooting, debugging, and testing of FPGA systems.Participate in cross-functional team meetings and contribute innovative ideas to solve engineering challenges.

Qualifications You Must Have  

This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their (Sophomore year) by the start of summer 2026.Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.Coursework or experience in VHDL coding, FPGA design, and simulation.

Qualifications We Prefer 

Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.Familiarity with hardware acceleration for machine learning algorithms.Knowledge of aerospace and defense systems is a plus. Familiarity with AMD FPGA platforms and tools (e.g., Vivado, ModelSim, etc.).Understanding of machine learning concepts and their practical applications.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
