On-Orbit Operations is a unique career path that offers an early career engineering to learn about all aspects of a space mission, including satellite subsystems, payloads, and Mission Extension Vehicles 1 and 2 (MEV-1 / MEV-2 ) deliver on-orbit life extension services for commercial geosynchronous communications customers on an ongoing basis. Northrop Grumman’s Tactical Space Systems Division provides 7x24 command/control, mission planning, flight dynamics, and sustaining engineering support for the existing MEVs, and for future Space Logistics missions. We are currently looking to fill a night shift position on our operations team, and are able to train the right person to fill the role and accomplish the following duties:
Real-time spacecraft command & control (i.e. execution of nominal and contingency operations procedures)
Telemetry monitoring
Absolute Time Sequence generation
First line anomaly response to troubleshoot satellite, ground, or command/control software issues
Follow established processes for spacecraft commanding, activity reporting, and command authorization.
Mission Extension Vehicles are designed to undock/dock multiple times throughout their lifetimes. As such, the operations team supports all aspects of the mission including Rendezvous, Proximity Operations and Docking (RPOD), to undocking and drift, to nominal operation of the Combined Vehicle Stack once MEV has berthed with its client.
The operations team also support the launch, early orbit, in-orbit testing, and orbit raising of new Space Logistics vehicles as they enter the fleet.
May require travel ~ 10% of the time for support of customer or backup mission operations center.

• Prior experience conducting on-orbit mission operations

Associate Spacecraft Operations Salary Range
$67,400 - $101,000
