**Job Title: Maintenance Technician**
**Job Description**
We are a U.S.-based manufacturer specializing in custom poly bags and plastic film packaging, offering solutions for food, retail, industrial, merchandise, and pharmaceutical packaging. We are seeking a skilled maintenance technician responsible for repairing and maintaining plastic bag extrusion machinery within our facility.
**Responsibilities**
+ Perform routine and preventive maintenance on plastic bag extrusion machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
+ Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues on extrusion lines, including motors, drives, heaters, and control systems.
+ Conduct inspections and diagnostics using schematics, blueprints, and testing equipment to identify root causes of equipment failures.
+ Maintain and repair components such as gearboxes, conveyors, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic units.
+ Work with 3-phase motors and systems operating up to 480 volts, ensuring safe and compliant electrical practices.
+ Execute Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures during maintenance and repair activities to ensure safety.
+ Collaborate with production and engineering teams to support equipment upgrades and modifications.
+ Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage in accordance with company standards.
+ Ensure compliance with safety regulations, GMP, and company policies in all maintenance tasks.
+ Assist in maintaining inventory of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies.
+ Support facility maintenance including HVAC systems, lighting, and general building upkeep.
+ Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability.
**Essential Skills**
+ 2-3 years of maintenance experience within the plastics industry.
+ Experience with PLC troubleshooting, particularly inputs and outputs.
+ Electrical experience working with up to 480V and performing machinery wiring and rewiring.
+ Experience performing hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Bilingual - Spanish Speaking (to help communicate with production personnel).

**Work Environment**
The work environment includes a Plastic Extrusion/Blow Molding facility with 9 extrusion lines. The available shifts are 1st and 2nd, Monday through Friday, and another shift from Friday to Sunday. The maintenance technician will work the 1st shift from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wheeling, Illinois.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
