Actalent is currently seeking a qualified Electronics Engineer for a consultant position in Vancouver, WA. This role provides engineering support to a regional transmission utility’s technical services group. It also supports field engineers and technicians with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of communications and control equipment used in high‑voltage electrical substations, radio sites, and control centers.
ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with engineers and technicians by providing technical support on assigned tasks.Serve as a beta tester for new or updated maintenance standards and work guides, using lab equipment to validate procedures and provide constructive feedback for clarity and completeness.Draft or review procedures for installation, operation, and troubleshooting of hardware and software for assigned systems and equipment.Interface with control center and field personnel to support integration of data between field systems and control center platforms.Assist in investigating and analyzing operational issues involving complex electronic systems, such as those supporting telecommunications or SCADA systems; document findings and recommend corrective actions.Assist in developing planning and design documentation standards for new equipment and technologies.Prepare diagrams, charts, and equipment configuration details for use in system specifications.Support evaluation of test equipment used to maintain or troubleshoot assigned systems.Develop training materials and hands‑on laboratory exercises under guidance from engineers and technicians for use in approved technical training sessions.Provide instruction and lab assistance during approved training events for end users.Coordinate with parts specialists, supply chain, and warehouse staff to review reports and monitor spare‑parts inventory levels for field systems and equipment.Troubleshoot and provide technical support to field personnel and other internal customers.Compile technical data, reports, tables, and graphics related to system performance, failure analysis, and equipment outages; draft findings for internal use or communication with manufacturers.Coordinate with engineers and technicians to maintain compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards, including NERC CIP and PRC‑005. Responsibilities include:Monitoring and coordinating responses to proposed NERC standards.Assisting in the development or revision of procedures to meet evolving NERC requirements.Assembling and analyzing data to identify potential compliance issues and preparing evidence for review.Supporting preparation for internal and external compliance audits.Designing forms, reports, and tools to track mitigation activities for compliance findings.Provide regular project or task updates to management.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Telecommunications Engineering.Candidates within three months of graduation will be considered; proof of degree may be required after completion.Minimum of 6 months of experience in telecommunications engineering or a closely related field.Knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to components and facilities found in regional transmission systems.Knowledge of engineering principles related to electronics or telecommunications systems.Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Strong college‑level technical writing skills, demonstrating clarity, accuracy, conciseness, and appropriate audience focus.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Vancouver, WA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $40.00/hr.
